The ISO organization made major revisions to the ISO 14064 standard at the end of 2018, aiming to guide companies to comprehensively assess the impact of greenhouse gases and report carbon reduction results. The ISO 14064 organizational greenhouse gas inventory standard can be applied to various industries, including manufacturing, OEM, service industry, etc.
ISO 14064 is divided into three parts, covering different levels of greenhouse gas management and reporting. The differences between the three can be clearly seen through the figure above.
- ISO 14064-1 : Organization’s GHG emissions and uptake within its operational scope. ISO provides clear standards and guidelines to enable organizations to follow GHG inventory and documentation procedures.
- ISO 14064-2 : Project planning for GHG reductions and absorptions. This includes: project proposal preparation > validation report > project registration replacement > working group meeting > registration approval > monitoring report > verification report > working group meeting > resolution > approval and issuance of reduction allowances.
